This was our entry for the Spintunes 14 Round #1 challenge, "This Place is a Zoo". We had to describe a day in the life of our pet, as if they were a roommate.

Amy yawned and left the bed
Ran around to clear her head
No breakfast, killed a bird instead
Walked the fence to change her point of view

Then what did she do?

She found a sunny patch of ground
Took a sniff, laid gently down
Watched the squirrels dart around
Closed her eyes to take a nap or two

Then what did she do?

And dreamt about food


Up again to stalk some prey
Maybe catch that dog someday
But for now she'll walk away
To find a smaller critter to pursue

Then what did she do?

She used the faucet for a drink
Left so much hair in the sink
Might be crazy, but I think
It's her mud prints in the shower too

Then what did she do?

She puked in my shoe

She's always cutting corners
Making messes I clean for her
She's ditzy, she's a hoarder
And so bad at taking orders
And I adore her

She's fine if I ignore her
And she might have a disorder
But I love her like a daughter
I hope she knows if she needs anything
I'll do it for her

Spent a long day counting sheep
Groomed intently, dug in deep
Watched us all drift off to sleep
She'll menace us before the night is through

It's how she says "I love you"
