Hey there, kid I know what it's like to be in your shoes There's so much ahead You don't really know which path you're gonna choose But I've walked these roads, I know where they go And how they'll shape your views Because I've been there, I'd like to share Some wisdom you could use I could define A timeline you could follow carefully The times when you'll thrive, the things you'll survive The things you can't foresee I could improve, or even remove Some hardships you're due for But then again, my good intentions Might end up hurting more If I shelter you I could soften you too much And if I tell the truth You mightn't take it as such If I give you too many shortcuts you could lose touch Yeah it's tough but it's true It's a Catch-22 I just don't know what to tell you There's tough times ahead But focus instead on how they'll strengthen you You'll suffer loss But it's a cost we all must suffer through Your very worst days Will help you in ways you cannot comprehend Take it from me Someday you'll see it's worth it in the end I could let you in On all the tricks I now know But it would be a sin To deprive you of your chance to grow If you don't make these mistakes It'd be the biggest mistake you can make And it's a risk you'll have to take It's a Catch-22 I just don't know what to tell you What things to share What things that I should hide What to be proud of What to keep bottled inside Any one of them Might change your lot in life You might not break your heart You might not meet your wife There's some things I can't tell you I'm scared if I do You won't catch twenty-two of the most meaningful years of your life

This is an ode to the sportsman You were seen by some as just a brute, in fact But you're the one who shamed Goliath by choosing the hero's path You wrestled your demons for years and years For years and years Admirers of yours far and wide sing your praise And it carries on for days and days For days and days You masked your anguish despite knowing that people in masks cannot be trusted But you just did You had to make your way by aligning with any criminal genius who showed interest But it wasn't your fault for being the biggest and strongest You did something right You didn't let it go to your head Or compromise your giant capacity for loyalty The biggest part of you was always your heart When the pain drove you drunk with grief You didn't let it defeat you, it fueled you And it freed you to find relief by saving the day You helped find your princess You did it with purpose, you did it with pride You loved with all your remarkable might The biggest part of you was always your heart You walked softly and carried a big everything You did something right You didn't let it go to your head Or compromise your beautiful humility You could best any other pirate on any other day But it takes a greater kind of courage to ensure a fair fight come what may You did something right You were so sportsmanlike

Yesterday, tomorrow Just abstract versions of now Why do they make a difference? When now's all we can experience anyhow? Give or take, or borrow There's a choice in how we share No matter where you think you're headed I choose to get you closer to getting there I hear your call You push my buttons I'll come runnin' Wait right there (I wanna get up for you) Wait right there (I wanna meet up with you) Wait right there (I wanna get up for you) Wait right there (I'll make it up to you) You look at me, so impatient I could never take your stares Won't let you down unless you ask me to 'Til then I'm yours to direct me anywheres I hear your call You push my buttons I'll come runnin' Wait right there (I wanna get up for you) Wait right there (I wanna meet up with you) Wait right there (I wanna get up for you) Wait right there (I'll make it up to you)

Requited 02:27
Nothing gets much better than this Usually something goes amiss But lately we make great chemistry Some unforeseen unseasonal bliss Inspired, excited Desired, delighted me After those eyes meet mine tonight Blood pressures rise, lips nervously bite Despite my slight fright, it's quite a nice sight One touch of your skin means I'll be alright Exotic, intoxicating Amazing you Tremendous, fulfilling Stupendous and thrilling Believed in, invited Received, then requited, love
6.
Got Away 03:36
You were a siren in shinin' glass-scattered sun I was a shy and silent distantly affectionate Train wreck with training wheels on I hid in my corner to fawn over the beauty only I saw You were all exotic, had nothing to hide, you wore your Insides like they were costumes at Mardi Gras I was always a waiter, not much of a chaser I'm no instigator But I swore I saw your eyes flash invitation To talk you later You held my gaze And I froze in place And all because of my delay You're the one who got away You're the one who got away I'd come back to see you, to greet you, try to meet you In some better place Found my first courage in the bottom of the coffee you Served me with that Mardi Gras smile on your face I'd climb my wall of nerves, push the ball of doubtful words aside And tried to be my own cupid that day But you eluded me, you did me a favor Turns out you made a greater cupid than I did anyway And as you slipped away Right then I saw her face Now I no longer have to say "She's the one who got away" You gave a gift I can't repay You led me to find 'the one' And I'm so happy this love's begun And after all is said and done I mean "thank you" when I say, After all is said and done "Happy Valentine's Day"

Dinosaur Sam 03:32
I can call a man, get a job, earn a wage And relax at the end of a long work day For how much pay compared to what's made By the gal next door who works as much if not more I guess her glass ceiling is your glass floor What makes me so special? And I can ask that gal for her name, for her number Ask her out on a date and if we relate we'll Fall madly in love and there are vows we can make Ain't that just the same as when two men feel that way? But your good book ain't good enough to say that's okay. What makes me so special? You make these rules to govern over, curry favor What makes you so special? If you took this job to ensure you've got More rights than others then One thing I know for sure: Uncle Sam don't represent me no more You're a Dinosaur, Sam - your ideology needs To die; no sore winners in my promised land The youth will be your meteor, Sam And the truth will set you free Feel free to take your leave I can have a drink or four and get into a car And get pulled over and blow for the officer And pay it away if I fail, I can stay out of jail But if a bright young kid at the top of his class gets Caught with some grass, does he get a free pass? Not if it keeps your prisons filled, I guess What makes me so special? You make these rules to feel superior What makes you so special? If you took this job to ensure you've got More rights than others then One thing I know for sure: There's not much time for you and yours You're a Dinosaur, Sam - your ideology needs To die; no sore winners in my promised land The youth will be your meteor, Sam And the truth will set you free Feel free to take your leave Feel free to take your leave Feel free to take your leave

Better Days 04:47
The best thing living in a maze Around the corner there are better days Feeling good means more to you Than it ever could for those who never knew The pain it takes to understand Relief from pain you never planned But you’ve found a way to make it through the day To make it through the maze of you Your mind and body Straining through and through But your battle’s not with me So I cannot set you free From this purgatory All I can do for you Is to give you something good to think The best thing living in a maze Around the corner there are better days The best thing about being down There’s room to lift yourself off the ground And when you feel lost In the maze I’ll give the gift Of straightaways No matter what the cost No matter what it takes I won't let you miss The better days Pain is the feeling of winning the fight for your life

(Verse 1: 6/8 time) I respect you And I believe you try to do good But you've gotten used to A way of taking much more than you should And we've let you Get used to a comfort that more of us could Enjoy, and feel For once, for real And to feel like We're part of a team So please please please Understand what it means That you're making a choice In times like these It will come like the tide In a unified voice We'll say... (Chorus 1: 5/8 time, 3/8 polyrhythm) ...that we're here at the door There will be many more Don't be scared but be sure We're prepared to endure The wildest ride of all our lives And if you'll fight don't be surprised That we're hangin' on... (Verse 2: 6/8 time) In case you doubted There are many more of us Than you've counted And we do know that it's crowded In there but it's Crowded out here I just want a seat at this table Looking for a place That's stable enough To stake my claim To lay my foundation And shout my name So please please please Understand I'm a friend But I'll tell you again (Chorus 2: 5/8 time, 4/8 polyrhythm) That we're here at the door There will be many more If you just make some room Then this place will grow too And you could stand to clear the air Just take my hand, there's room in there And we're hangin' on... (Outro: 4/4 time, 3/4 polyrhythm) I respect you But I have to ask you Please hear me out Don't you wrangle me down Don't wrangle me down, or rein me in

Slow Jam 03:28
I see you movin' hesitatin' Almost dancin' in the kitchen You're feeling lonely, only wishin' That you felt that elation That your feet would remember that sensation Of being on the dance floor I know what you've gotta do Our bodies know what we need So let your pulse quicken and listen There's no language for the way it feels But your body speaks and makes it real This is what we dance for This is what we dance for Our bodies know what we need So we listen when they tell us To move, to move, to move You've gotta dance like you've got something to prove This is what we dance for It's gotta be what you've gotta do So call me, baby, call me And I'll move, to move to you I'll rescue you I'll take you to the club You've got your hands in the air Just like you're reaching for something That's almost there but you're not quite sure If you know where to go, take it slow Let me show you how not to hurry, don't worry Baby, we'll dance more We've got all night so we can take our time 'Till we get it right; I can Wait 'till the DJ plays a slow jam You won't quite invite me home, but it's alright This is what we dance for This is what we dance for I'll take you to the club, show me what you love And I'll move to you I'll move to you I'll sing a tune I'll dance with you This is what we dance for To move, to move, to move
11.
It was never about winning Our choice of direction affects us all We'll steer ourselves to a new beginning Or runaway straight toward a wall And I thought I could be the one to pull the damn brakes The one who saves face, not the one who raises the stakes But you're in charge now and I pray your conscience awakes Or consequences will cause a million heartaches So what's your answer to me? So much is riding on this We'll scrutinize your every move You've shown us how much you can promise But you've got so much more to prove You'll find you're hated and you're learning those are the damn breaks You're in over your head and you're measured by your mistakes You can't solve all of this with back room smiles and handshakes It's time you listened to more than sycophant snakes So will you listen to me? Changing winds and changing tides The times you lie are the times you drown When the waters decide to rise You'll not be able to talk them down No, you don't wanna be on top of the dam when the dam breaks Foundations are fragile, imagine the toll our fight takes The march of the masses are known for causing earthquakes You're just our employee, don't forget the difference that makes Don't forget the difference that makes Don't forget the difference that makes Now you answer to me Now you answer to me Now you answer to me
12.
I could spend a lifetime wasting away remembering good times past I'd pretend it's like my greatest days again blurring milestones passed And my thinking of late is it's safe to say there's a million I've amassed But the thing that makes them glory days is the fact that they don't last And it's over now, and I'm settled down, not by choice but the clock is ticking on I'm forgotten but not gone
13.
Patient 06:19
VERSE 1 You have gotten good at counting How many days it's been And good at imagining How many it will be 'till the end And what it will be the the end of You could have given in to doubting Just waiting 'till when It all starts happening Too many attacks for you to defend But that's not what you're afraid of And you're not quieting your shouting You're fighting to win Bravely banishing A nightmare curse again and again You've shown us what you're made of CHORUS You're graceful as a bird Emotions of a willow As patient as a butterfly to be well again PART II / POST CHORUS A thousand faces in a crowd But not one in a million understands A simple wish for a clearer head A stronger heart and steadier hands VERSE 2 I can't imagine what you're feeling But you're not here alone I'll give you anything My strength and love my understanding It's all yours for the taking Why can't we take the hand they're dealing And throw it all away And find a better game One with a brighter ending A cure of our own making CHORUS 2 And then without a word Your head upon a pillow A patient with the heart to try You'll be well again PART II / POST CHORUS 2 A thousand faces all around And every one your family Holding you up above the ground We'll take you where you need to be CHORUS 3 And if you haven't heard Echoing from below Shouting your name to the sky You'll be well again BRIDGE Again and again I stop to recognize your beauty The strength in your face when you uphold it like a duty And I know, we'll look back and laugh that we lived through the days of sickness And cry for those that didn't BUt you're gonna make it You've shown me what you're made of CHORUS You're graceful as a bird Emotions of a willow As patient as a butterfly To be well again. Graceful as a bird Emotions of a willow As patient as a butterfly You'll be well again
14.
This is not my fate But it's the fight I've taken on I'm consumed by hate And fueled by all the blood I've drawn I've come to reclaim This sacred ground you tread upon You'll not know my name But if you cherish life you'll run With all your might And if you dare to fight My blade will taste you If you defend your land Then I will kill you where you stand Then I'll find your friends And tell them how you met your end Then I'll kill them too Then I'll kill you once again Then I'll find your wife I'll cook her dinner then I'll Kill you one more time This sword and I will dine My blade will taste you SKULTAR IS THE MAN WHO CAN KILL FROM THE GRAVE! SO FAR IF WE KILL HIM IT JUST ADDS TO HIS RAGE! MY GOD HOW CAN ONE MAN LAY US TO WASTE? QUICK RUN! HERE HE COMES LOOK HOW HE WIELDS HIS BLADE!

On a bright winter day I awoke next to Molly as I heard her say "Thank the heavens above, are you ready, my love? The baby's on her way." As I wiped the sleep from my eye I turned to my Molly and I realized That the love of my life, my beautiful wife Was far more ready than I On the day my daughter came into the world Could you trade one life for another? A husband and wife, now father and mother Would I be prepared? I was terribly scared On the day my daughter came into the world As we raced out the door My arms around Molly, I hugged her once more To the doctor we went, and I learned what it meant To be nervous like never before Could you trade one life for another? Would I be a good enough man for my child and my lover? A responsibility, it had fallen to me On the day my daughter came into the world The next thing happened so fast I heard cries from my Molly as the nurse ran past Though the room became quiet, they wouldn't let me inside it But then the doctor came out at last As soon as I saw him I knew Something happened to Molly, and she might not pull through And the chances were slight that they could both be alright Then he asked what I wanted to do Could you trade one life for another? I faced a choice no one should, that stayed with me for good On the day my daughter came into the world I can't believe how quickly she's grown All her friends have mommies that treat her like their own But someday she'll be old enough to ask me About her mommy, my Molly, that she's never known Will she see me cry Or will she read blame in my eye Or will I find a way to make it okay And have the strength to tell her who died On the day our daughter came into the world For a moment we were a family of three On a bright winter's day

Crimefighter 07:04
I'm ashamed of all the bad with which we share this world today To see constantly just a glimmer of the good and it's buried beneath such oppressive pain Hatred and sinning and anguish and fighting Where the hell are the good people hiding? An uphill battle under water when all I wanna do is breathe in And now that i met you It's just one more sin. It's a sin not to love you, now that I know you better, And it's my mission to break through, to bring a storm to fight this weather And it's a crime.... we're not together But I'm a crimefighter, baby It's so lonely at night I don't know why I go at it vestigial vigilantism purely out of habit Just when I think my chivalry's subsiding You gave me a reason to keep on fighting I want to provide you just one beautiful minute Wanna make it a better world for you 'cause you're in it And it's a sin not to love you, now that I know you better, And it's my mission to break through, to bring a storm to fight this weather And it's a crime.... we're not together But I'm a crimefighter, baby

Thunder 04:48
Asphalt and heat It's been searing hot and blinding On this summer street I got back on my feet He's been chasing me Every time I turn I see him On his rusted dark machine A metal beast His musket flailing fast Conducting an orchestra of concussive blasts A bullet grazing past Muscles burning hot The gun made awful thunder as he fired another shot I had to stop ...Oh, I stopped I turned around Shouted to him as I held my ground Oh, mister monster You've been chasing me all day Is there something, anything, I can say Is there any chance I could walk away? Or have I truly found My way inside a nightmare Am I in some kind of hell where There's truly no hope for escape? And he said It's more of a carnival And you're just an animal We monsters have to have our fun too And ooh oh, there's thunder for you I'm coming for you Better run run run run run run run No hope for rest I slowed only as much as I dared just to catch my breath Or face certain death I found a parking lot Got lost among the cars and wondered How much time I bought An alarm went off Such a shrieking sound His monster snapped attention And began to bound my way I turned around I turned around My fear betrayed my plight and he stood there Savoring the sight of the Frightened little boy that he had found I looked up at him As he trained his gun I spoke again Are you some kind of demon? And he said I'm more of a cannibal and It's something mechanical It's just a part of how you made me And oh ooh, I hunger for you I'm coming for you better run run run run run run run I froze in shock Our eyes were locked As the weapon's hammer cocked I was made of rock He took aim I had to dive I tasted asphalt When the thunder came The bullet called my name A shattered spine Fleshy tatters in a jagged line And I'm I'm lying there and all I feel is Asphalt and heat It's been searing hot and blinding On this summer street I got back on my feet

The one the townsfolk called "The Tin Knight" Was a withering warrior who wore old armor Who captured a child's imagination And challenged killers and terrors A terrible creature threatened the kingdom The king called out to all to conquer the treachery waiting outside The old tin knight was the only one to answer the call and arise A child called out to the wall as the knight walked through "I'm a tin knight too" "I'll conquer the thunder, the terrors and wonders I'll tear them asunder Wild and courageous, I'll win the crusade against The things I'm afraid of when When I'm asleep" The knight went outside the castle walls In an instant the creature attacked Chainmaille clinked as it weakened its chinks Though terribly wounded, the knight was able To kill it in its tracks The king then commended the knight's courageous acts The tin knight wavered on aching knees, cried out, "I won...", and collapsed All the townspeople circled around and timidly asked aloud, "Who will keep the kingdom, who can act as our custodian?" One of them already knew - The child cried out to them all, "I'm a tin knight too" "I'll conquer the thunder, the terrors and wonders I'll tear them asunder Wild and courageous, I'll win the crusade against The things I'm afraid of when When I'm asleep" "I'll be a tin knight too"

(Intro - American acoustic pop) Dancing through these album pages Fingers grazing old picture frames It's the way that paper memory ages Yellowing photos of Linda and James I stand transfixed and stare It's almost like I was there If I look closely I can see How all of this came to be (Narration 1 - Ukrainian / German folk) Anna Korlinchek came from Kiev, Ukraine And Donald Arthur Riker came from Kiel, Germany They met in the United States, fell in love, and married. I never knew her, but I have memories of him: He always called refrigerators 'Frigidaires' And he always called me 'Snipe'. There's a photo of the two of them Leaning against a beautiful brand-new car. I like to think that it was blue. ...I turn the page... (Narration 2 - Italian classical) He was born 'Modesto Tomaso Giuseppe Valentino Savino' He went by 'Tom' for short. His family emigrated to America From a small town called Bari In the heel of the boot in southern Italy. He joined the Navy and fought in World War II And came home to marry his high school sweetheart. He loves wine and garlic And cutting hair. He's 83 years old now, and still works as a barber Three days a week. And he golfs the other four. ...I turn the page... (Narration 3 - Irish folk) Joyce Kathryn Hanlon's family hailed from The County of Armagh in Northern Ireland. She served as a nurse in World War II And after the war ended, Her sister married her high school sweetheart's brother And she married her high school sweetheart. And the two families became very very close. She loves laughter so much, That even when she swears, it sounds adorable. ...and after all this... (Conclusion - American acoustic pop) Donald and Anna had a baby boy Who they called James Thomas and Joyce, they had a daughter Linda was her name Savino met Riker.... Then Linda and James, they had a baby boy... Looking back, I see traces of my identity: Lovers, fighters, survivors And all of them in me This is my family tree

Senator Kerry, I have a question, and I have a right to know In 2004 you won the election, but the Right suppressed the vote They rigged machines, shunned communities; GOP stole the show How could you concede? Our democracy was dealt a crazy blow! My candidate betrays me so! But the facts are hazy, though... Like your opposition to George W.; the man should be your foe! And what about his plan to invade Iran? Can you stand to let that go? I can't believe you refuse to impeach him; as a Yalie you should know That it seems like these are the acts of a fellow member of Skull & Bones Oh, thanks for cutting my microphone... I know I'm being kind of an asshole, but I don't really think I'm doing anything wrong Get your hands off me; he isn't answering! People, please, just gaze below His veiled pleasantries to see his secrecy - how he plays the show Now they're arresting me, I didn't do anything! You don't faze me, no... Oh, someone help me please, police brutality! Don't tase me, bro! Oh, ow, ohh Please let me go! Please, let me go! Just let me go! Let me go!
